Serena grew up locally in the nearby seaside town of Porthcawl. She went to university in London and graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2012. She worked at a veterinary practice in Essex initially until she came back home to Wales in 2018. Here she did some locum work at various practices, and then started a full time position at St James in January 2019. She thoroughly enjoys veterinary work and has a particular interest in surgery, including orthopaedics. She has achieved a certificate in advanced veterinary practice, which became designated in general small animal surgery in 2021. Outside of work she and her fiance are currently busy planning their wedding for this summer (2022). She enjoys long walks with their rescue dog, Yola, and looking after their parrot, Mabli (a blue throated conure). She also enjoys playing the piano, spending time with friends and family and exploring new places. She became qualified as an advanced open water diver in Thailand in 2018 and loves scuba diving when she has the opportunity (and the water is warm enough)
